Opening a Común account is quick and easy. The entire process usually takes less than 5 minutes.
How to get started
Download the Común app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Open the app and tap Create an account.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete your application.
What you'll need
🆔 A valid government-issued ID
We need to verify your identity using a valid government-issued identification document.
You do not need a U.S.-issued ID to apply. We accept more than 100 types of IDs from different countries, including:
Passports
Driver's licenses
Other government-issued identification documents

📍 Proof of address in the U.S.
To open an account, you'll need to verify that you live in the United States.
You can do this by:
Allowing the app to verify your location, or
Providing a document with your name and U.S. address, such as:
A utility bill (electricity, gas, water, etc.)
A bank statement
A lease or rental agreement under your name.
📧 An active email address
Use an email address that you can access. Make sure it doesn't contain accented characters (á, é, í, ó, ú).
📱 A phone number
You can use a phone number from any country, as long as it can receive SMS or WhatsApp messages.
Frequently asked questions
I don't have a U.S.-issued ID. Can I still apply?
Yes! You can use a valid government-issued ID from your home country, such as a passport or driver's license.
I lost my Social Security card. Can I still apply?
Yes. If you've lost your Social Security card, you can still complete your identity verification using another accepted government-issued ID, such as a passport or driver's license. If additional information is needed during the application process, we'll let you know.
Can I apply from outside the United States?
No. Común accounts are only available to people who live in the United States. You'll need to provide proof of your U.S. address during the application process.
