Why can’t I verify my debit card?

Review this information to successfully add your debit card

Updated over a week ago

Verification is completed through a small deposit (less than $1 USD) that Común sends to the bank account linked to your card.

This process protects your security by confirming that you are the cardholder, without sharing your banking information with anyone.

Is it safe?

Yes. Común never has access to your online banking or your login credentials. We only send a deposit to your external account, and you confirm the amount inside Común.

Your financial information remains private and protected.

1. The deposit hasn’t appeared yet

  • Some banks may take a few minutes to show it. Please wait a couple of minutes for it to appear.

  • Look for the deposit sent by Común.

    • It may appear as: “COMUN RCVD PYMT” or “COMUN NY NY”.

  • Check your most recent transactions.

  • It may appear as pending or completed.

2. The amount entered does not match

You must enter the exact amount of the deposit (less than $1 USD).

3. Your card may not be compatible

The following do not work:

  • Credit cards

  • Digital cards (PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, etc.)

  • Prepaid cards that cannot receive microdeposits

  • Cards without online banking access

If your card is a debit card and you still can’t find the deposit, contact your bank to make sure this type of transaction is enabled and check if they sent you any messages.
