What happens if my account has a negative balance?
If your Común account remains negative for more than 60 calendar days, the account may be automatically closed.
❓Why can an account go into a negative balance?
A negative balance can happen when money is deducted from your account but there are not enough available funds to cover it.
Some common reasons include:
A card transaction is approved and later fully processed
A merchant adjusts the final amount of a purchase
A refund or deposit is reversed
A subscription or recurring payment is charged
An ACH transfer or external payment is returned
⏳ What happens after 60 days?
If the negative balance is not resolved within 60 calendar days:
Your account may be permanently closed
You may temporarily lose access to Común services
Future deposits sent to the account may first be used to cover the negative balance
💸 What if money arrives after my account is closed?
If your account is already closed and a deposit arrives later:
The system will first deduct the amount owed (negative balance)
Any remaining funds may become available to you afterward
This process needs you to reach out to our support channels and may take additional time for review and processing.
✅ Why is it important to keep your balance at $0 or positive?
Maintaining a positive balance helps you:
Avoid account closure and stay compliant with regulations
Maintain a healthy financial history
Keep access to future financial products and services with Común and other institutions
💡 Recommendation
